একটি দেশের শাসন ক্ষমতা যখন ধনিক শ্রেণির হাতে থাকে তখন আমরা সেই সরকার ব্যবস্থাকে Plutocracy বা ধনিকতন্ত্র বলে থাকি। Oligarchy বা গোষ্ঠীতন্ত্র বলতে স্বল্পসংখ্যক লোকের শাসনকে বোঝায়। আর যে রাষ্ট্রীয় ব্যবস্থায় শুধু অভিজাত শ্রেণিরই কর্তৃত্ব বহাল থাকে সেই ব্যবস্থাকেই Aristocracy বা অভিজাততন্ত্র বলে। এছাড়া যে রাষ্ট্র ব্যবস্থায় প্রকৃত শাসকরা আড়ালে আবডালে থেকে শাসন কার্য পরিচালনা করে তাকে Cryptocracy বলে।
