Introduction: Hobby means an interesting occupation pursued for recreation (বিনোদন). It is a short pastime (অবসর) that one pursues to take a great delight. It is necessary for mental rest and recreation. Different kinds of hobby: Because of having different tastes different people have various hobbies. There are varieties of hobbies like gardening, bee keeping, kite flying, painting, singing, walking, stamp collection and what not. My hobby: Gardening is my favourite hobby. My garden is in front of my reading room. The main flowers of my garden are rose, champa, shefali, beli, karabi, kamini, sunflower, gandharaj, etc. I also grow vegetables like cauliflowers, cabbages, danta etc in the corner of my garden.

Why I like it: Among various types of hobby I like gardening for different reasons. It gives me an immense pleasure in my leisure. It enriches (সমৃদ্ধ করে) the beauty of our house and charms all around us. By cherishing my hobby I can take physical exercise regularly. I can plant some vegetables around my flower garden. It helps our family get fresh vegetables. This is why I like this hobby most.

Time of work in the garden and nature of work: I generally work in my garden in the morning and in the afternoon. Sometimes I prepare the soil with spade and at other times sprinkle water to keep the soil moist. I feel sound when I make the soil loose and weed out the grasses. At times I do the pruning and trimming (কাটাছাঁটা) the twigs very nicely.

Usefulness: My garden is a source of joy. My joy knows no bounds at the sight of the plants in full blossoms. It also adds income to our family.
Conclusion: Gardening is helpful to me in several ways. It refreshes my mind. It helps me forget the troubles and worries of life. In fact, everyone of us should have a hobby.

আমার শখ: বাগান করা আমার প্রিয় শখ। আমার বাগানটি আমার পড়ার ঘরের সামনে। গোলাপ, চাঁপা, শেফালী, বেলী, করবী, কামিনী, সূর্যমুখী, গন্ধরাজ, ইত্যাদি আমার বাগানের প্রধান প্রধান ফুল। আমি আমার বাগানের এক কোণে বাঁধাকপি, ফুলকপি, ডাঁটা, ইত্যাদি সবজিও জন্মাই।

কেন আমি এটা পছন্দ করি: বিভিন্ন ধরনের শখের মধ্যে বাগান করাটা আমি নানা কারণে পছন্দ করি। এটা অবসর সময়ে আমাকে খুব আনন্দ দেয়। এটা আমাদের বাড়ির সৌন্দর্য বৃদ্ধি করে এবং আমাদের চারপাশের সবাইকে মুগ্ধ করে। আমার শখ পূরণ করার মাধ্যমে আমি নিয়মিত শরীরচর্চা করতে পারি। আমি আমার ফুল বাগানের চারদিকে কিছু সবজি জন্মাতে পারি। এটা আমার পরিবারকে টাটকা সবজি পেতে সাহায্য করে। এ কারণে আমি এই শখটিকে সবচেয়ে বেশি পছন্দ করি।

বাগানে কাজ করার সময় এবং কাজের প্রকৃতি: আমি সাধারণত সকাল ও বিকেলে বাগানে কাজ করি। কখনো কখনো আমি কোদাল দিয়ে মাটি তৈরি করি এবং অন্য সময় মাটিকে আর্দ্র রাখতে তাতে পানি দিই। যখন আমি মাটি আলগা করি এবং আগাছা পরিষ্কার করি, তখন আমি নিজেকে সুস্থ মনে করি। মাঝে মাঝে আমি সুন্দর করে গাছের ডালপালা ছেঁটে দিই।
উপকারিতা: আমার বাগান আনন্দের এক উৎস। ফুটন্ত ফুলসহ গাছগুলোকে দেখে আমার আনন্দ ধরে না। এটা আমার পরিবারের আয়ও বৃদ্ধি করে।
