Introduction: Games and sports (খেলাধূলা) is an amusing activity. It is the source of exuberance (উচ্ছ্বাস) and excitement. It breaks the monotony of our life.

My choice: There are mainly two kinds of games in the world. They are outdoor and indoor games. Among outdoor games, cricket is my favourite game. I like this game very much.

Why I like it: Cricket is a very interesting and popular outdoor game. It originated from England. It is the national game of England. It is now played all over the world. It gives delight to both the players and the spectators (দর্শক), I like it most because it is full of thrill and excitement.

Requirements for the game: Cricket is played between two teams. Each team has eleven players. A smooth round-shaped big ground is necessary for this game. To play the game two wooden bats, a cricket ball, two sets of stumps are required (প্রয়োজন). At a distance of 22 yards two wickets are pitched opposite and parallel.

How played: After the toss the umpires signal to start the game. One team takes to batting and other bowling and fielding. The bowler bowls the ball to the batsman. He strikes the ball with the bat. The captain of the team often changes the arrangement of fielders after consulting (আলোচনা করে) the bowler.

খেলার জন্য যা যা প্রয়োজন: ক্রিকেট দুটি দলের মধ্যে খেলা হয়। প্রতি দলে ১১ জন খেলোয়াড় থাকে। এ খেলার জন্য একটি বড়, মসৃণ, গোলাকৃতি মাঠের প্রয়োজন। এটি খেলতে দুটি কাঠের ব্যাট, একটি ক্রিকেট বল ও দুই সেট স্টাম্প প্রয়োজন হয়। ২২ গজ দূরে দুটি উইকেট বিপরীতমুখী ও সমান্তরাল অবস্থায় থাকে।

কীভাবে খেলা হয়: টস হওয়ার পরে আম্পায়ার খেলা শুরুর সঙ্কেত দেন। তখন একটি দল ব্যাটিং করে এবং অন্য দল বোলিং এবং ফিল্ডিং করে। বোলার ব্যাটসম্যানের দিকে বল করে। সে ব্যাট দিয়ে বলকে আঘাত করে। উইকেটরক্ষক এবং ফিল্ডাররা বল ঠেকিয়ে দেয় এবং ক্যাচ ধরে। কয়েকজন ফিল্ডারকে কাছাকাছি রাখা হয় এবং কয়েকজনকে রাখা হয় বাউন্ডারি লাইনের নিকটে। অধিনায়ক বোলারের সাথে কথা বলে মাঝেমধ্যেই ফিল্ডারদের অবস্থান পরিবর্তন করেন।

স্কোরিং: বোলিং করার সময় ব্যাটসম্যান বলে আঘাত করে এবং ক্রীজের একদিক থেকে অন্যদিকে দৌড়ায়। বল যদি বাউন্ডারি লাইন স্পর্শ করে তাহলে চার রান যোগ হয়। বল যদি বাউন্ডারি লাইনের উপর দিয়ে পার হয়, তবে ছয় রান যোগ হয়। ব্যাটসম্যান বিভিন্নভাবে আউট হতে পারে। সব ব্যাটসম্যান আউট হলে ইনিংস শেষ হয়। সাধারণত একদিনের ম্যাচ দুটি ইনিংস খেলা হয়। যে দল বেশি রান করতে পারে সে দল জয়ী হয়।

ম্যাচের আম্পায়ার: তিনজন আম্পায়ার খেলা পরিচালনা করেন। তারা খেলায় নিয়মকানুনও বজায় রাখেন। দ্বিধাপূর্ণ পরিস্থিতিতে তৃতীয় আম্পায়ারকে তলব করা হয়। প্রযুক্তি ব্যবহার করে তিনি সিদ্ধান্ত দেন।
