Population Problem in Bangladesh

Introduction: Bangladesh is a small country. But it is burdened with a huge population. It is in fact one of the most populous (জনবহুল) countries in the world. So her population is now one of the greatest problems for her.

Its causes: There are many reasons why Bangladesh is beset with acute population. Firstly, most of people in Bangladesh are illiterate. They are not aware of family planning. They are also poor. So they bother (মাথা ঘামানো) a little about leading a planned life. Besides, due to social and religious superstitions (কুসংস্কার), most of the people of Bangladesh are adverse to (অনীহ) family planning.

Its negative impacts: Population problem is in fact the root of many other national problems. Due to overpopulation, the need of habitation (আবাসন), food and other things are getting higher and higher. It is quite impossible now to meet these demands. So, food problem, health problem, malnutrition (অপুষ্টি), environment pollution, poverty etc are certain consequences of population problem.

Its remedy: To develop our nation, there is no alternative to control the overgrowth of population. To do so, first we have to make the general mass aware of this problem. Mass media can play a very vital role in this regard. People have also to be made free from social and religious superstitions. Family planning campaign (প্রচারাভিযান) should be strengthened (জোরদার/ বেগবান), Family planning instruments should also be made more available. So the govt should take necessary initiatives to root out the problem as soon as possible.

Conclusion: Population is a great hindrance to all our development efforts. So it must be controlled at any cost. The educated and conscious ones along with the govt should come forward to rooting out this serious national problem. Otherwise (অন্যথায়), no real progress can be materialized in our national arena.

জনসংখ্যা বৃদ্ধির নেতিবাচক প্রভাব: জনসংখ্যা সমস্যা আসলে অনেক জাতীয় সমস্যার মূল কারণ। অতিরিক্ত জনসংখ্যার কারণে বাসস্থান, খাদ্য ও অন্যান্য চাহিদা দিন দিন বাড়ছে। এখন এসব চাহিদা পূরণ করা প্রায় অসম্ভব হয়ে পড়েছে। ফলে খাদ্য সমস্যা, স্বাস্থ্য সমস্যা, অপুষ্টি, পরিবেশ দূষণ, দারিদ্র্য ইত্যাদি নানা সমস্যা সৃষ্টি হচ্ছে।

সমাধান: দেশকে উন্নত করতে হলে অতিরিক্ত জনসংখ্যা নিয়ন্ত্রণের কোনো বিকল্প নেই। এজন্য প্রথমে সাধারণ মানুষকে এ বিষয়ে সচেতন করতে হবে। গণমাধ্যম এ ক্ষেত্রে গুরুত্বপূর্ণ ভূমিকা রাখতে পারে। মানুষকে সামাজিক ও ধর্মীয় কুসংস্কার থেকে মুক্ত করতে হবে। পরিবার পরিকল্পনা বিষয়ে প্রচারাভিযান জোরদার করতে হবে এবং পরিবার পরিকল্পনা সামগ্রী সহজলভ্য করতে হবে। তাই সরকারকে দ্রুত এই সমস্যা দূর করতে প্রয়োজনীয় পদক্ষেপ নিতে হবে।
