A computer is an electronic machine that can quickly make calculations, store, rearrange and retrieve information, or control another machine. Its main feature is speed and accuracy. The main components of a computer are a CPU, a monitor, a key-board, a mouse, etc.
The usefulness of computer is immense in the present world. It is understood that true development is impossible without the introduction of computer in every sphere of our life.

Nowadays computer is used to diagnose diseases. A newer process of operation has been invented by computer as an alternative to surgery. It is used to grind stone without operation.

Today it is used in our agriculture sector to innovate new agricultural tools, new species of various crops, fruits, fishes etc. to fulfill the demand of the increased population.

Computer is being used in education sector all over the world, Computer education has been introduced in schools and college levels in Bangladesh. The results of SSC, HSC and many other examinations, some admission tests, etc. are published in a short time with the help of computer.

The use of computer in commerce and trade is remarkable. Computer has occupied the entire region of commerce in developed countries. Our country has also introduced computer in banks, private and government offices.

Modern printing media cannot go a single moment without computerate is an indispensable part of printing. Thousands of books can be composed with the help of computer with in a very short period of time.

Moreover, computer is playing a vital role in airlines, railways, shops, laboratories, hospitals, libraries, etc. It is also used to prepare electric bills, record telephonic conversations and send reminders to others. In the field of medical diagnosis and printing technology, computerized machines are doing wonders.

Computers dominate every sphere of man's life. We cannot imagine modern life without computer.

Finally, we have to admit that computer is changing our lifestyle. It will bring about revolutionary changes in near future. But to get its optimum benefits we must have computer literacy among all educated persons, in all offices and organizations.
