My Favourite Game/ The Game I Like Most

All games are not equally amusing and interesting to us. Among the games I have a great fascination for football which is a popular game all over the world. It is full of thrill for both the players and spectators. It is an excellent form of exercise that makes the players strong and stout. These are the reason for which I like football more than all other games.

The game is played between two teams each consisting of eleven players. Of them there is a goalkeeper who prevents the ball from crossing the goal line. There are two full backs standing at a little distance from the goal posts. There are three half backs in a line midway between the forwards and backs who act both as defenders and offenders. There are five other players who play in the forward line. They try to push the ball through the goal posts. The whole game is divided into two equal halves with an interval of fifteen minutes. At the end of the first half each team changes its side. The game is generally played for ninety minutes.

In the field the referee is the supreme authority to conduct the game. His decision is final. Two lines men assist him to run the game smoothly and properly. During the play no player except the goalkeeper can touch the ball with hands. No player in the game can make any foul, In case of making any foul the referee can send any player off the field. The victory goes to the team that can score more goals than the other.

The game of football teaches us the principle of obedience to rules It fosters the spirit of love, discipline and co-operation among the players. It develops team spirit and sportsmanship-in the players.

There is nothing which is an unmixed blessing. Too much involvement in the game often makes students apathetic towards their studies. Rivalry in the play often leads to quarrel among the supporters in the gallery and spoils the thrill and joy of the game. Sometimes it goes to touch extent that the whole ground turns into a battle field. But in-spite of having some negative sides, football is the most popular and exciting game in the world.
