My Visit to a Historical Place

I have also a curiosity, to visit historical places. By visiting historical places, we can learn much about the past, past culture and tradition, etc. It has also a great educative as well as cultural value. I heard much from my near and dear ones that a historical place is a symbol of our past. I was hopeful of experiencing something new by visiting a place of historical interest and learn new things.

So, once I decided to visit Bagerhat, a great historical place. I made the visit last December. Our school was closed and it was a good opportunity for me to fulfil my desire. I was excited to explore one of the most significant historical places of Bangladesh.

I visited the Mazar of Khan Jahan Ali. The Mazar of Khan Jahan Ali stands on a raised ground. Khan Jahan Ali was a Muslim saint and the founder of Bagerhat. He founded the flourishing city in the 15th century cutting the swampy forest area. Hazrat Pir Khan Jahan Ali came here from Delhi to preach Islam. The Mazar, constructed with terracotta and adorned with intricate carvings, showcases the unique Islamic architecture of the time.

The tomb is made of cut stone. He died on 25 October 1459. There I saw many things and enjoyed them. There is a big tank in front of the Mazar. There are some crocodiles in this big tank. When the caretaker calls them, they come near. It is very interesting to see such sight. Sometimes, the visitors give the crocodiles something to eat.

I also visited the Shat Gambuj Mosque. It stands on sixty pillars and has seventy-seven domes. It looks very beautiful and is known across the country for its beauty and fascinating architecture of the middle age.

The visit really enhanced my outlook. It has inspired me to visit other historical places of our country. My visit to Bagerhat was not only a journey through history but also an opportunity to connect with Bangladesh's glorious past. We are proud of our historical places.
