A Journey by Boat I Made

A journey is a source of pleasure to me. A journey by boat is more interesting to me than any other journey. Bangladesh is a land of rivers. So, it is easy to enjoy a journey by boat here.

During the last Autumn, our school was closed. It was a suitable time for me to have a journey. At that time my cousin invited me to visit his house. My cousin's house was situated by the river Madhumoti. So, it was easier to reach my cousin's house by boat. So, I didn't miss the opportunity to make the journey by boat.

I proposed to some of my friends to join me so that the journey more become pleasing. Two of my friends accepted my proposal and accompanied me.

It was a ten-mile journey. We had hired a boat. We started at 4 p.m. The boatman steered the boat smoothly. He was very expert. The weather was calm and quiet. Gentle breeze was slightly pushing the sail. So we had no trouble on the way and the journey was very nice. It took three hours to reach our destination.

The journey was very pleasant. The boat was dancing on the small waves and it thrilled me much. We also enjoyed a 'Bhatiali' song sung by the boatman. We were delighted at the sight on either bank of the river. There were green fields of rice, jute and other crops and rows of trees. It seemed that two sides of the river was moving behind with trees, houses and landscapes.

Many boats and launches were plying on the river. Some fishermen were catching fish. Many children were bathing and swimming in the river. I saw some young girls and women taking water from the river. When the sun was setting in the western horizon, the scene gave us a nice view and it enchanted us. We reached our destination at 7 p.m.

It was really a nice journey and I will ever remember this journey. I wish I could make a journey like this one once again.
