Satellite is a machine that has been sent into space (মহাকাশ) and goes round the earth, moon, etc. It is used for radio, television and other electronic communications. On the contrary, channel means a station by which various types of programmes are broadcast. Satellite channels are those that are able to broadcast programmes globally. They play a very important role in providing us with amazement and amusement. Amusing lives cannot be imagined without satellite channels. Through satellite channels we can enjoy educational, literary, cultural and entertaining games and sports programmes. They enrich our mind and mentality with international life awakening flow. They introduce us to global culture and custom. Therefore, their utility in our modern life cannot be denied.

It is true that satellite channels are of great use to us. But they are not an unmixed blessing for us. By broadcasting nude programmes some channels provoke juvenile delinquency. The young generation is losing their social values by watching foreign programmes. By watching vulgar films they go to dogs. Social crimes like killing, raping, kidnapping, robbing are committed owing to the influence of satellite channels. Therefore, effective steps should be taken to save our young generation from deterioration (ধ্বংস) caused by satellite channels.
