Last Sunday, I witnessed a tragic road accident. It took place near our school. There is a turning point there. It is a traffic point of five roads. Now and then there occurs a traffic jam. On that day, while I was going to school, I saw a car coming from the western direction. A rickshaw, with a school boy and his mother, was coming from the opposite direction at about 8:30 a.m. While crossing the point, the car hit the rickshaw. The rickshaw puller was able to jump from his seat but the boy and his mother fell on the road. The boy and his mother were seriously wounded. I rushed to them. Some other passers-by also came forward to help them. We led them to a nearby doctor's chamber. I felt pity for the school boy, he was of my age. In fact, for having no traffic police at that place, such accidents frequently occur. The authority should take steps to stop road accidents that very often claim peoples' lives.

একটি সড়ক দুর্ঘটনা

গত রবিবার আমি একটি মর্মান্তিক সড়ক দুর্ঘটনা দেখেছি। এটি আমাদের বিদ্যালয়ের পাশে সংঘটিত হয়েছিল। সেখানে একটি রাস্তার মোড় আছে। এটি হচ্ছে পাঁচ রাস্তার গাড়ি চলাচলের মোড়। সেখানে প্রায়ই যানজট লেগে থাকে। ঐ দিন যখন আমি স্কুলে যাচ্ছিলাম, তখন দেখলাম পশ্চিম দিক হতে একটি গাড়ি আসছে সকাল ৮:৩০ এর দিকে। ঠিক তার বিপরীত দিক হতে একটি রিকশায় করে একজন স্কুলছাত্র তার মাকে নিয়ে আসছিল। মোড়টি অতিক্রম করার সময় গাড়িটি রিকশাটিকে ধাক্কা দেয়। রিকশাওয়ালা তার আসন হতে লাফ দেয় কিন্তু স্কুলছাত্রটি ও তার মা রাস্তায় পড়ে যায়। স্কুল ছাত্রটি ও তার মা মারাত্মকভাবে আহত হয়। আমি তাদের দিকে ছুটে যাই। অন্যান্য আরও কয়েকজন পথচারী তাদেরকে সাহায্য করার জন্য এগিয়ে আসেন। আমরা তাদের নিকটস্থ একজন ডাক্তারের চেম্বারে নিয়ে যাই। স্কুল ছাত্রটির প্রতি আমার মায়া হলো। মূলত ঐ মোড়টিতে ট্রাফিক পুলিশ না থাকার কারণে প্রায়ই এ রকম দুর্ঘটনা ঘটে থাকে। সড়ক দুর্ঘটনা বন্ধের জন্য কর্তৃপক্ষকে যথাযথ ব্যবস্থা গ্রহণ করা উচিত।
