Earthquake

Earthquake is a sudden and violent shaking of the crust of the earth. It occurs for various reasons. It occurs when the nearby volcanoes emanate lava. Moreover, if there is any fault line under any area, a slight shaking of the earth can cause a great earthquake. In most cases, earthquake occurs because some gases try to come out from the depth of the earth. Earthquake causes a great damage to people and property in the affected areas. If any major earthquake occurs in Bangladesh, most of the buildings in the city area will be destroyed as they are not built in accordance with an earthquake resistant standard. However, in order to protect us from such an impending danger, we must be conscious about the causes and results of earthquake. We should not build any house without the advice of experts so that it can survive in any earthquake, Moreover, the govt. should build a huge number of earthquake shelter entrees and make the people aware about an impending earthquake through radio, TV etc. so that people can take necessary steps to save themselves.

ভূমিকম্প

ভূমিকম্প হলো ভূ-ত্বকের হঠাৎ ও প্রচন্ড ঝাঁকুনি। বিভিন্ন কারণে এটি ঘটে থাকে। নিকটবর্তী কোনো আগ্নেয়গিরি যখন লাভা উদগীরণ করে তখন এটি ঘটে থাকে। তাছাড়া, যদি কোনো অঞ্চলের তলদেশে ত্রুটিপূর্ণ লাইন থাকে তবে সামান্য ঝাঁকুনিতে সেখানে বড় ধরনের ভূমিকম্প হতে পারে। বেশিরভাগ ক্ষেত্রেই ভূমিকম্প ঘটে কারণ পৃথিবীর গভীর থেকে কিছু কিছু গ্যাস বেরিয়ে আসার চেষ্টা করে। ভূমিকম্প আক্রান্ত অঞ্চলের মানুষ ও সম্পদের ব্যাপক ক্ষতি সাধন করে থাকে। বাংলাদেশে যদি বড় কোনো ভূমিকম্প ঘটে তবে বেশিরভাগ শহরেরই অধিকাংশ বিল্ডিং ধ্বংস হবে কারণ এগুলো ভূমিকম্প প্রতিরোধক মান অনুযায়ী নির্মাণ করা হয় নি। যাই হোক, এ ধরনের ভয়াবহ বিপদ থেকে রক্ষা পেতে হলে, ভূমিকম্পের কারণ ও ফলাফল সম্পর্কে আমাদের সচেতন থাকতে হবে। বিশেষজ্ঞদের পরামর্শ ছাড়া আমাদের কোনো বাড়ি নির্মাণ করা উচিত না যেন এগুলো যেকোনো ভূমিকম্পে টিকে থাকতে পারে। অধিকন্তু সরকারকে বহুসংখ্যক ভূমিকম্প আশ্রয় কেন্দ্র গড়ে তুলতে হবে এবং আসন্ন ভূমিকম্প সম্পর্কে রেডিও, টেলিভিশনের মাধ্যমে মানুষকে অবহিত করতে হবে যাতে করে মানুষ নিজেদেরকে রক্ষা করতে প্রয়োজনীয় পদক্ষেপ গ্রহণ করতে পারে।
