My.Visit to a Science Fair

A science fair is one which is organized in order to display the scientific things usually invented by students. Recently I have visited a science fair held at Notre Dame College, Dhaka, Many reputed educational institutions took part in this fair. When I entered into the fair, I thought that I entered into a new world. All the participating institutions had their respective stalls. I walked round different stalls and gathered much pleasure and experience. Many items of latest scientific machinery were kept there to display. Then I saw models of ships, aeroplanes and submarines invented by young scientists. Some young learners showed their skills in developing some scientific things such as electronic heater with rubber and blade, mosquito killing instrument operated by dry cell battery, etc. Some students showed domestic things, software, things with waste materials and so on. I was surprised thinking about how the young scientific minds had invented such wonderful things. I met some famous scientists and educationalists of the country. Some renowned intellectuals of the country spoke on the science fair encouraging the young participants. I returned home with knowledge and inspiration.

আমার একটি বিজ্ঞান মেলা পরিদর্শন

বিজ্ঞান মেলা হচ্ছে এক ধরনের মেলা যা আয়োজন করা হয় সাধারণত শিক্ষার্থী কর্তৃক আবিষ্কৃত বৈজ্ঞানিক যন্ত্রপাতি প্রদর্শনের জন্য। সম্প্রতি ঢাকার নটরডেম কলেজে আয়োজিত একটি বিজ্ঞান মেলায় আমি গিয়েছি। অনেক স্বনামধন্য শিক্ষাপ্রতিষ্ঠান এতে অংশ নিয়েছিল। যখন আমি মেলায় প্রবেশ করলাম তখন আমার কাছে মনে হলো আমি নতুন জগতে প্রবেশ করেছি। অংশগ্রহণকারী সকল প্রতিষ্ঠানের নিজ নিজ স্টল ছিল। আমি বিভিন্ন স্টল ঘুরে দেখলাম এবং অনেক আনন্দ ও অভিজ্ঞতা, সঞ্চয় করলাম। বহু অত্যাধুনিক বৈজ্ঞানিক জিনিসপত্র প্রদর্শনের জন্য রাখা হয়েছিল। এরপর আমি ক্ষুদে বিজ্ঞানীদের কর্তৃক আবিষ্কৃত জাহাজ, এরোপ্লেন ও সাবমেরিনের মডেলগুলো দেখলাম। কিছু কিছু বৈজ্ঞানিক যন্ত্রপাতি যেমন রাবার ও ব্লেডসহ বৈদ্যুতিক হিটার, ড্রাইসেল ব্যাটারি চালিত মশা মারার যন্ত্র ইত্যাদির অগ্রগতি সাধনের ক্ষেত্রে কিছু ক্ষুদে শিক্ষার্থী তাদের দক্ষতা দেখাল। কিছু কিছু শিক্ষার্থী গৃহস্থালীর জিনিসপত্র, সফটওয়‍্যার, বর্জ্য পদার্থ থেকে তৈরি জিনিস এবং আরও অনেক কিছু প্রদর্শন করল। কীভাবে এই ক্ষুদে বিজ্ঞানীরা এসব চমৎকার জিনিস আবিষ্কার করলেন এটা ভেবে আমি খুবই অবাক হলাম। দেশের কয়েকজন বিখ্যাত বিজ্ঞানী এবং শিক্ষাবিদদের সাথেও আমি সাক্ষাৎ করলাম। ক্ষুদে অংশগ্রহণকারীদের উৎসাহিত করে, কয়েকজন প্রখ্যাত বুদ্ধিজীবী বক্তৃতা দিয়েছিলেন। আমি জ্ঞান ও উৎসাহ নিয়ে মেলা থেকে বাড়ি ফিরলাম।
