Internet is the latest medium of communication. This is a speedy transmitting system of information with the help of computer and computer networks. Internet is now regarded as a milestone of the modern world of communication. To get computer connected with internet, a modem and a telephone connection are needed. The telephone cable is connected with a modem and the modem remains connected with computer. Data is transferred and received through this modem. The importance of internet is great. In internet, there are millions of smaller domestic, academic, business, and government networks and websites, which together carry many different kinds of information and services. It helps us communicate with the people of other parts of the world. It is a quick and easy medium of communication. The Internet has brought new opportunities to government, education and business. Now, one can get admitted into a foreign university and achieve higher degree through internet. Moreover, knowledge about internet and computer is a must to get a good job. Many people earn a lot doing freelancing through internet. Thus, it is getting widespread. Currently the necessity of internet in Bangladesh is very demanding. It is a matter of great regret that internet has not reached throughout the country as yet. So, the people are being deprived of the benefit of internet. The internet providers are not getting enough opportunities and options from the government either. In order to flourish the communication system, the authority must take proper steps to better internet facilities; otherwise, our country will always lag behind.

ইন্টারনেট যোগাযোগের সর্বাধুনিক মাধ্যম। এটা কম্পিউটার এবং কম্পিউটার নেটওয়ার্কের সাহায্যে দ্রুত তথ্য আদান প্রদানের পদ্ধতি। এখন আধুনিক বিশ্বের যোগাযোগে ইন্টারনেট মাইলফলক হিসেবে বিবেচিত। কম্পিউটারের সাথে ইন্টারনেটের সংযোগ স্থাপনের জন্য একটা টেলিফোন সংযোগ এবং মডেম প্রয়োজন। টেলিফোন সংযোগটি মডেমের সাথে যুক্ত থাকে এবং মডেমটি কম্পিউটারের সাথে যুক্ত থাকে। এই মডেমের মাধ্যমে ডাটা স্থানান্তর এবং গ্রহণ করা হয়ে থাকে। ইন্টারনেনেটর গুরুত্ব অনেক। ইন্টারনেটে লক্ষাধিক ছোট আবাসিক, একাডেমিক, ব্যবসায়িক এবং সরকারি নেটওয়ার্ক এবং ওয়েবসাইট থাকে যা একসাথে বিভিন্ন প্রকারের তথ্য এবং সেবা বহন করে। এটা বিশ্বের অন্য প্রান্তের লোকদের সাথে যোগাযোগ করতে সাহায্য করে। এটা যোগাযোগের দ্রুত এবং সহজ মাধ্যম। ইন্টারনেট সরকার, শিক্ষা এবং ব্যবসায় নতুন সুযোগ নিয়ে এসেছে। এখন একজন ইন্টারনেটের মাধ্যমে বিদেশি বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ে ভর্তি হতে পারে এবং উচ্চতর ডিগ্রি অর্জন করতে পারে। অধিকন্তু, ভালো চাকরি পেতে ইন্টারনেট এবং কম্পিউটার সম্পর্কে জ্ঞান থাকা আবশ্যক। অনেক ইন্টারনেটে ফ্রিল্যাসিং এর মাধ্যমে প্রচুর অর্থ উপার্জন করে। এভাবে, এটা ছড়িয়ে পড়ছে। বর্তমানে বাংলাদেশে ইন্টারনেটের চাহিদা ব্যাপক। এটা অত্যন্ত পরিতাপের বিষয় যে, বাংলাদেশের সর্বত্র এখনো ইন্টারনেট পৌঁছায়নি। তাই, লোকেরা ইন্টারনেট সুবিধা থকে বঞ্চিত হচ্ছে। ইন্টারনেট সরবরাহকারীরা সরকারের কাছ থেকে যথেষ্ট সুযোগ সুবিধা পাচ্ছে না। যোগাযোগ পদ্ধতি বিকাশের জন্য, কর্তৃপক্ষ অবশ্যই ইন্টারনেট সুযোগ সুবিধার উন্নয়নে যথাযথ পদক্ষেপ নিবেন; অন্যথায়, আমাদের দেশ সব সময় পিছিয়ে থাকবে।
